Grace
As with most Irish Ballads it is about the sacrifice. He is going to be hung for being IRA, she is marrying him. There would be no wedding, no family, no dress, no dream so I had to give her this in a sock. The back of the sock becomes the bouquet , the front the veil. The beads on the front are the beads in the veil. The flowers on the back are gathers together for the bouquet. They would be wild flowers not hot house so I chose daisies. I made this sock about a bride , not about the troubles or the IRA member , but about the bride so in love that even if only for a night ,even without a proper wedding night she marries him knowing it is a moment of sadness as much as a moment of joy.
